Custom AI Agent Development

A bounded assistant that can use tools and leave a trace of every action.

The scope

An agent is useful when a task requires several decisions and actions across tools, not just one generated answer. I define the tools it can call, the information it can see, and the point where a person must approve a change. A narrow task with a clear end state is a better starting point than an open-ended instruction to run the business.

I build for interruptions and mistakes as well as the happy path: the agent should show its steps, stop safely and make it possible to retry or correct an action.

When this helps
  • A task moves through several systems and requires choices between steps
  • A copilot must prepare actions for staff to review rather than act without oversight
  • You need repeatable tool use, permissions and traceability around an AI assistant

From process to production.

A useful AI system starts with a defined task, earns access to the right context, and proves itself on real work.

Discuss your workflow
  1. Define the job

Map the trigger, inputs, decisions and exceptions. Agree on what the system may do and when a person takes over.

    Working resultA focused, testable scope
  2. Connect the context

Connect approved data and tools. Set access rules, handoffs and fallback paths around the workflow.

    Working resultAn integrated working flow
  3. Evaluate in use

Test representative tasks, review errors, time and running costs, then improve the flow before and after launch.

Working resultA system you can inspect and refine

What I can deliver

  1. A task boundary listing allowed actions, data access and escalation points

  2. Tool and API connections with limited permissions and validation of inputs

  3. Execution records, approval steps and a way to stop or resume a run

  4. Scenario tests for wrong assumptions, failed tools and incomplete information

How I work

Bound the job

I choose one task, define its end state and record which decisions need human approval.

Connect the tools

I add the smallest necessary API permissions, checks and a visible record of each action.

Challenge the agent

I test ambiguous requests, tool failures and unsafe actions before limited use with your team.

Starting point
From $990per project

A limited agent prototype with one approved tool action

This price covers the starting scope described above. I confirm a quote after reviewing your brief and existing systems. Third-party fees are separate.

90-day cover for delivered development

For development work I deliver, I correct defects in the agreed scope reported within 90 days of launch. New features, changes by others and third-party outages are separate work.

Frequently asked questions

How is an agent different from a chatbot?

A chatbot mainly exchanges messages. An agent can carry out a defined sequence using tools, such as reading a record and preparing an update, subject to the permissions and approvals we set.

Can the agent change data without asking?

Only within an explicitly agreed scope. I define which actions require approval, which are read-only and how a run is stopped or corrected.

Will an agent always be better than a script?

No. If the decisions can be written as stable rules, a script is usually simpler. I recommend an agent only where variable context justifies the added complexity.
