Equipment marketplace

listings, bulk imports and direct messaging

I look for the smallest complete marketplace loop: publish an offer, find it and start a direct conversation across buyer and seller accounts.

The challenge

A business needed a marketplace for equipment and related services. Sellers had to publish varied inventories, while buyers needed to search across offers and contact the relevant seller without leaving the platform.

The approach

The MVP combined a Vue.js and Nuxt.js frontend with a Django backend. Work was phased around the core marketplace journey: registration, publishing an offer, finding it and starting a conversation.

The project, in detail

Different roles, different workspaces

Buyer and seller registration lead to dedicated accounts. Seller profiles expose the business’s offers to visitors while the private workspace provides the tools for maintaining those listings.

A catalogue that follows the category

Administrators can configure listing fields for each category. Sellers fill in the attributes relevant to their offer instead of forcing different kinds of equipment and services into one fixed form.

Bulk publishing with images

A ZIP-based import accepts a product table together with its images. This gives sellers a route for preparing a batch of listings outside the website and submitting the catalogue data and media together.

Search connected to conversation

Search covers products, services and sellers. Buyer–seller chat provides a direct next step from discovery, with notifications supporting the ongoing exchange between marketplace participants.

The outcome
