Playmaker
a sports community extended to mobile
I look at this mobile extension through continuity: existing content and accounts had to meet predictions, points and native navigation.

The challenge
Playmaker wanted to bring its web publication and community mechanics into a dedicated mobile channel. Existing content and accounts needed to connect with the new application, while the interface had to feel appropriate on a phone rather than like a compressed desktop site.
The approach
The mobile design was adapted for a React Native application backed by a Laravel API. The work connected the existing server to an additional client and added promotional registration and referral functionality.
The project, in detail
The images show the interface and its context. Captions distinguish project archives from current-site views.
Participation organised around points
Users make sporting predictions and interact through comments, likes and invitations. These activities use internal points and activity tables, not real-money wagering within the described mechanics. The app carries those community behaviours into a mobile interface.
One content system, another access point
The API supplies current content and exchanges user actions with the server. Preparation for App Store and Google Play formed part of the delivery, including store materials and platform-specific checks. The outcome is an additional channel for the existing publication and its community.
The outcome
React Native apps for iOS and Android
Shared content API and points-based participation
